The Marine Conservation Society says mackerel is no longer sustainable because of over-fishing in Iceland and the Faroes. But some fishermen in Cornwall say the announcement has come too soon and could be counterproductive.

Sardine fishermen could be in for bumper sales after the news that a conservation group has wiped mackerel off the menu. The Marine Conservation Society say it is no longer sustainable because of over-fishing in Iceland and the Faroes.

But some fishermen in Cornwall say the downgrading of mackerel has come too soon and could be counterproductive.
