Govt to announce price deal on Hinkley energy

The government will today announce a long-awaited deal on the price of energy from a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point in Somerset.

French company EDF has already prepared the site next to the two earlier stations, but won't commit to the project unless the government guarantees a minimum price for the electricity. Opponents fear it will mean a big increase in bills.
