Darren Lawson, the managing director of a Westcountry estate agent said the industry needs to bring in stricter self control.
"What I would ask for is full regulation of estate agencies," he said, "that shouldn't be too much of a challenge that deliver good practice aren't currently licensed.
"Those that are already licensed, well they already are where they need to be and it should sort out the charlatans from those that observe their moral obligations to look after the best interests of sellers and buyers alike."
