Final preparations are being made for Plymouth's Christmas lights switch-on and Lantern Parade. Several schools and colleges have been involved in creating the giant lanterns.
Thousands of people are expected to head to the city centre this evening for the festive extravaganza, which marks the start of weekly late night shopping.
