40 Commando have returned home from an exercise in California.
The Green Berets have been fine-tuning their skills in the US desert as part of Exercise Black Alligator.
The men from Norton Manor Camp, in Taunton, relocated for several weeks, to the US Marine Corps base at Twentynine Palms in California.
Hundreds of Royal Marines carried out live firing with heavy guns and mortars and practised their urban combat drills. They also took part in large-scale live firing commando raids with their Dutch and US counterparts.
Next on 40 Commando's agenda is cold weather warfare training in Norway and jungle warfare skills in Gabon.
They'll also be taking part in armoured vehicle, aviation and chemical warfare training.
