Residents woken up in the middle of the night by an explosion as thieves target another of the region's cash machines. People living near the ATM on Station Road in Yate describe hearing a bomb like sound just after 3am. The attack, thought to be the ninth on cashpoints this year, has partially destroyed the building and damaged surrounding homes.
The first attack this year was in Long Ashton on the 4th of January. That area was targeted again on the 5th of April. Just a couple of weeks later, two ATMs in Bath were targeted, before another attack in Shirehampton on the 26th of April.
Then on May the 5th more explosions. This time two cash points were blown up in Winterbourne, just fifty metres apart. Two days later and there was another attack in Long Ashton. And finally today in Yate.
