Two people have been rescued from a flat fire in Plymouth.

Crews were called to Union Street at 3.30am after neighbours raised the alarm.

On arrival, the firefighters found one flat on the first floor well-alight, and it was unknown if persons were inside. They led two people to safety.

It was heavily smoke-logged and fire crews used breathing apparatus and jets to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is believed to be suspicious and is under investigation.
