Flood alert issued for Cornwall after heavy rain

The Environment Agency have issued a flood alert for North Cornwall.

Is means flooding is possible, and people should be prepared.

This was the scene at Polperro on the South East Coast on Sunday afternoon:

It's after heavy rain fell overnight on Saturday - causing river levels to rise.

Areas of concern:

  • River Camel
  • River Allen
  • Bodmin Town Leat catchment

We are monitoring the situation, and have operatives in the field, where required, to clear blockages.

Meanwhile emergency services are urging people not to try to drive through flood water.

Firefighters in St Austell said they have to rescue people from two vehicles trapped this morning.
