A woman who was trapped under a cart at Chard Carnival remains in a critical condition this evening.
The woman, in her forties, has yet to be formally identified.
The accident happened at the end of the procession on Saturday night.
Police have confirmed the woman injured is one of the ground crew.
They said this morning the woman is now in a "serious but stable condition".
She was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol after the incident.
A crowdfunding page had been set-up to help her family through this time.
Chard Carnival committee says that while this is a rare occurrence, it is important to consider potential safety improvements for the future.
The lady is stable. The family are with her and we've been keeping in close contact and offering as much support as we can at this moment.
I think we've just got to take advice from everyone involved now and see what we can do. If we can make it any safer that's what we need to do and we just need to work with everyone to try and implement anything that is recommended.
