Visiting restricted as norovirus hits Yeovil Hospital

Yeovil District Hospital is warning non-essential visitors to keep away as staff try to contain an outbreak of norovirus (the winter vomiting bug) which is affecting several wards.

Outpatient clinics are still running though, and the hospital is advising patients to attend their appointments as normal.

According to the hospital, essential visits include those to:

  • Inpatient children
  • Patients in critical care
  • Patients receiving end-of-life care
  • Patients with complex needs, like dementia, whose care and wellbeing you are supporting

All other visitors to wards are asked to postpone or cancel. The hospital is also restricting the numbers of visitors per patient.
