A man had to be dragged to safety with his socks on fire after his bungalow exploded in a small Cornish village.

Residents described hearing what sounded like 'thunder' early this morning in Carnkie near Helston.

Debris was found scattered up to 200 metres away. An off duty lifeguard helped drag a man, who was trapped in the rubble, to safety.
