THIS INFORMATION IS UNDER EMBARGO FROM ALL PRESS USE AND NON-COMMERCIAL REPRODUCTION UNTIL 00.01 TUESDAY 15 DECEMBER 2009.
From dancing eyebrows and talking meerkats, to a car made of cake and the world’s longest waterslide, BEN SHEPHARD narrates a celebratory countdown of the 20 greatest commercials to grace our TV screens over the past decade. We’ll find out how technology lent a hand in bringing Gene Kelly back to our screens, how a Sunday league football ref came to book Jackie Charlton and who was actually in the monkey suit, in the now infamous drumming gorilla advert!
Ad Of The Decade will feature the stars of the adverts which British viewers have come to know and love; JOHNNY VEGAS as seen in the ‘PG Tips’ campaign, HOWARD BROWN from the Halifax advert, the kids from ‘Cadbury eyebrows’ and BRIAN MACKIE, the star of the epic Hovis advert which depicts 122 years of history in just 122 seconds. The programme also speaks to rock star PHIL COLLINS after his classic song ‘In The Air Tonight’ was given a new lease of life when the Cadbury’s gorilla commercial became a smash hit.
Ad Of The Decade speaks to a host of ad-loving celebrities including Coronation Street’s KYM MARSH, Emmerdale’s MARK CHARNOCK, Britain’s Got Talent winner, GEORGE SAMPSON, TV presenter STEPHEN MULHERN and This Morning’s PAUL ROSS.
The programme also goes behind the scenes with some of the directors and choreographers who brought their visions to life in some of the most successful adverts of the decade.
