Every Saturday morning Saturday Farm will bring viewers a taste of farm life and fare.
Presented by father and son chefs Dick and James Strawbridge, and from Daylesford, an organic farm in the Cotswolds, the series will document events from the two thousand acres of countryside; home to cattle, turkeys, hens, five breeds of sheep, a market garden and a bakery, butchery and creamery. Giving viewers a taste of life on the farm, each episode will capture the bounty of the changing seasons with inspirational recipes and give a glimpse of rural life in all of its rich variety.
In programme one Dick gets to grips with day to day life at the farm, before heading off to feed the Gloucester Old Spot pigs, one breed of livestock that populates the farm. With spring in the air James gets stuck into lambing and cameras are on hand as he delivers his first lamb.
Saturday Farm is as much about celebrating and cooking with seasonal ingredients as it is about life on the farm so back in the market garden, Dick finds out all about purple sprouting broccoli before cooking a classic beef olive followed by delicious apple cobbler, whilst James heads outdoors and gets cooking, producing potted leeks with tarragon flatbread.
