This week, Daybreak highlights the international issues affecting women and children in some of the world’s poorest countries. With the UK hosting the G8 summit along with World Refugee Week, Daybreak’s Ranvir Singh and Kate Garraway swap the sofa for the suffering that so many mothers experience on a daily basis in some of the most deprived areas of the third world.

Ranvir visits Sierra Leone, recently named the third worst place to be a mother, to meet women and children trying to make the best of life in the poorest of places.

Kate Garraway travels to Jordan to visit a Syrian Refugee Camp 'housing' over 100,00 people - predominantly women and children - experiencing the living conditions having to be endured, learning individuals stories and the questioning the challenges faced by aid workers.

Both mothers themselves, Kate and Ranvir experienced not just the raw poverty people go through on a daily basis, but also the emotion of connecting with women who, as themselves, have children to feed, nurture and bring up in the best, safest way possible.
