Programme one: Gaddafi and the IRA

ITV1 launches new current affairs strand, Exposure, with six single documentary films providing an in-depth, revealing focus on a range of powerful subjects.

Exposure brings together films made by different producers exploring and investigating foreign and domestic topics, reporting on issues and telling human stories that resonate with our lives and shape our world.

The series was commissioned for ITV1 by Peter Fincham, ITV Director of Television and will run alongside ITV1’s popular year-round current affairs strand, Tonight.

Ian Squires, ITV’s Controller of Current Affairs and News Operations, said: “Exposure aims to shed light on a number of powerful and important subjects, from the world stage to very human and emotional stories, within individual and narrative-led hour-long films.

“I’m delighted that with this new strand, alongside the continued terrific output from Tonight, ITV1 continues to be a platform for a broad range of journalistic voices.”

Programme one synopsis:

Colonel Gadaffi gave the IRA enough weapons to turn a militia into an army. Exposure’s first film examines his support for the Republican terrorists and investigates the continuing danger of his legacy.
