Benidorm returns to ITV with some familiar faces
ITV’s award winning comedy Benidorm goes into production this month for a brand new seventh series.
Viewers will see the return of Johnny Vegas (The Oracle), Elsie Kelly (Noreen) and Crissy Rock (Janey York) who all make welcome returns to the Solana resort.
Viewers last saw The Oracle in series 3 as he started dating Chantelle Garvey, Noreen was last seen in series 5 after another successful holiday in the sunshine and Janey York stopped managing the Solana resort in series 4.
The sixth series, which recently completed its run on ITV, averaged 6.8 million viewers across the run. This was up on the 2013 slot average by 2.8 million viewers and 7 share points. The first episode in the run gained 7.9 million viewers giving the show its highest audience since 2011.
Many of your favourite holidaymakers will be appearing throughout the new series with the ever-resourceful Solana staff that includes Joyce Temple Savage (Sherrie Hewson), Les/Lesley (Tim Healy) and Mateo (Jake Canuso) who are all back to ensure everyone’s holiday goes to plan.
The show’s creator Derren Litten will pen all episodes of the series, details of new characters, guest stars and storylines will be announced nearer transmission.
Benidorm has been commissioned for ITV by Elaine Bedell, ITV’s Director of Entertainment and Comedy. Elaine says "After another successful run on screen we’re thrilled that a new series is about to start shooting on location in Spain. We’re equally pleased that some familiar faces from the Solana’s past will be making a welcome return to the sunshine”
Benidorm is produced by Lucy Armitage, directed by Sandy Johnson and David Sant with Sophie Clarke-Jervoise, Ben Cavey and Derren Litten as executive producers.
Benidorm is a Tiger Aspect production for ITV.
