Published: Wed 16 Jan 2013

Best-selling author Jackie Collins launches Racy Reads on ITV’s Lorraine, a search to find the next big name in erotic fiction.

From Monday 14 January, Jackie who has sold over 500 million copies of her books worldwide, will be encouraging budding writers to send in their own steamy stories to ITV’s Lorraine.

Each entry will be judged by Jackie, along with a team from Mills and Boon. The competition is perfect for any Lorraine viewers who want to start the New Year with a new career. As well as getting an advance on sales from Mills and Boon, the writer will also join Jackie in the USA for a lunch where she will pass on some of her writing experience.

Jackie said: “Writing is always a kick because I am passionate about creating interesting and complex characters.  Inspiration is all around me.  My advice to would be writers is sit down and do it!  And most important, write about what you know."

The winning author will have the chance to complete their novel and see it published by Mills and Boon. All week on ITV Lorraine, Jackie will reveal the inspiration behind some of her bestselling books and most famous characters. She will also give Lorraine viewers a writing master-class for anyone who needs a bit of help with starting their first novel.

To enter the competition viewers must submit the first 1000 words of their story to www.itv.com/lorraine by 28th January. Three finalists will be revealed week commencing 11th February and the winner announced on Valentine’s Day. The winner will finish their story and have it published by Mills and Boon in July 2013. Entrants must be unpublished authors. Full terms and conditions on www.itv.com/lorraine
