THE X FACTOR

The X Factor

18/08/2009

The multi BAFTA-award winning Entertainment show returns to our screens for an explosive sixth series.

With a record-breaking number of applicants and a new-look audition process taking place in arenas around the country in front of a live audience, the search for the next singing superstar singer or group reaches new levels.

Girls Aloud star and last year’s winning judge Cheryl Cole settles into her second year on the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue. They will once again travel the length and breadth of Britain for the live auditions with potential
singers this year not only trying to impress the four judges but an audience of thousands.

Dermot O’Leary returns to host the proceedings on ITV1 and will be on hand to celebrate with the successful acts and mop up the tears of those that aren’t. Whilst Holly Willoughby continues to front ITV2’s The Xtra Factor show.

Once again, each judge will ultimately mentor one of four categories: Boys, Girls, over 25s and the Groups. With Cheryl triumphant over last year’s win with her act Alexandra Burke, the pressure is on the other three to pick the act they hope will go on to win the series for them.

Elaine Bedell, ITV’s Director of Entertainment and Comedy says “We’ve made some changes to the new series that will make the show look and feel even bigger and better for viewers. All our judges and Presenters are back, and this year we’ve had a fantastic pool of talent audition for us. 2009 is shaping up to be a huge year for The X Factor”.

Richard Holloway, Head of Entertainment at talkbackTHAMES and Executive Producer of The X
Factor says “We are very excited about this year’s show. The live arena auditions provide an incredible atmosphere for the contestants to showcase their talent. It gives them a taste of what it is like to perform in a concert and allows their talent to shine”.
