Brand new Corrie webisodes for itv.com add suspense to Tony Gordons moral dilemma.
ITV.com today announced it has commissioned ITV STUDIOS’ Digital Productions to produce three scripted webisodes depicting alternative scenes for bad boy Corrie character Tony Gordon’s current attack of conscience storyline.
The webisodes will be hosted exclusively on www.itv.com/corrie from Monday 9 November 2009 to tie in with the dramatic climax of the current Tony Gordon storyline.
As Roy Cropper presses Tony’s conscience and piles on the pressure for Tony to confess his dark secret, a frustrated Tony considers his options. In a dramatic dictated letter to Maria, he apologises for what he’s about to do. But what exactly is he about to do?
Using one script, each three minute webisode is performed and interpreted in a different way so that while the words are the same the complexity of Tony’s character is revealed in three very different performances.
Kate Bradshaw, Deputy MD & Head of Online Commissioning for ITV.com said: “We know from experience that our viewers want to watch additional content from our programmes on itv.com. Last year over half a million Corrie fans downloaded extra footage of Liam Connor’s murder and accompanying behind the scenes content.
“Building on this success we are keen to engage with fans as often as possible to bring them these additive experiences of Tony Gordon’s conscience we hope will do just that.”
Patricia Wagstaff, Director of Digital Productions for ITV STUDIOS added: “We are delighted to be working with ITV.com and the Coronation Street team to continue to bring exclusive and engaging Corrie content to online viewers.
“Corrie fans want more content about the characters they know and love and these webisodes are a great way of extending what’s happening on-air and providing viewers with a richer and deeper viewing experience.”
ITV.com will also be hosting a live online chat on www.itv.com/corrie with Coronation Street producer Kim Crowther after the episode on Thursday 19 November, after the Tony storyline has climaxed. The live chat will start just before the episode at 8.30pm and Kim Crowther will be joining just after the episode finishes at 9pm.
