They say friends are family that you choose, so let’s hope these celebrities have chosen wisely as they step into Chris Tarrant’s hot seat to try and win the magic million for charities close to their hearts.
Fierce rivals on the track but close friends off it, sporting legend Lord Sebastian Coe will team up with best friend, athletics commentator and former Olympic silver medallist Steve Cram. This long lasting friendship will be put to the ultimate test as the pair look to win the jackpot for The PSP Association and COCO (Comrades of Children Overseas). Steve comments: “I’m really looking forward to sitting in the hotseat opposite Chris, although there is pressure to do well for my charity. Seb and I are used to risk taking on the track but when the clock is ticking and the beneficiary is my charity, it’s a different matter!” They may have been old adversaries on the track but now they need to combine their winning mentality to achieve success. Seb says: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to participate in Who Wants To Be a Millionaire with Crammy and raise money for the PSP Association. It is terrifying but at the same time I know it will be great fun.”
Next to take centre stage are long term partners, soap star Sally Lindsay and drummer Steve White hoping to climb the money tree for the Alzheimer’s Society and testicular cancer support site Checkemlads. The former Corrie actress comments: “I've always wanted to go on Millionaire and was twice as excited when I knew Steve would be doing it with me!” Can Sally and Steve hit the high notes as they aim to drum up huge amounts of cash?
After somersaulting his way to be crowned champion of Strictly Come Dancing, Olympic silver medallist Louis Smith joins the man behind his gymnastic success, coach Paul Hall. The pair aim to reach the perfect score for their chosen charity, the Huntingdon Gymnastics Club. Louis said: “I’m definitely excited to go on Millionaire but it's always a scary feeling when you're playing with what could be someone else's money. For that reason I am grateful to be playing with my coach Paul. We've always spoken about how good he'd be on the show so it’s great to have the opportunity to put that into practice and I can be there for moral support if nothing else!” Will they become a flipping success and waltz away with the much sought after six figure cheque?
Quiz master, Chris Tarrant, will be overseeing proceedings ensuring that the celebs are put to the test in order to scale the money tree. The money won by the contestants will be shared 50/50 between their charities and one lucky viewer at home.
