Road Warriors

This week ‘Road Warriors’ follows Lance Corporal Lisa West and her fiancé Lance Corporal Karl Cracknell as they embark on a dangerous supply convoy into an Afghan area known as ‘IED Alley’, due to the large amount of Taliban roadside bombs.

In addition to driving a truck weighing 32 tonnes, Lisa has the extra worry of knowing her fiancé is at the front of the convoy and therefore, in added danger. It is not long before the first IED is found and made safe but later on, another blows up the truck in front of Lisa’s vehicle. Soon the huge convoy finds it must tread agonisingly slowly in an area laced with bombs, mines and IEDs. Once again the British soldiers repel the Taliban and call in Apache attack helicopters so help them deliver their loads and attempt a return to the safety of Camp Bastion.
