Report: Exeter Chiefs 9-16 Saracens

Saracens survived a late attacking onslaught from Exeter to maintain pole position in the Aviva Premiership with a hard-fought 16-9 win at Sandy Park.

Ben Ransom's first-half try, together with kicks from Alex Goode and Marcelo Bosch, ensured Mark McCall's men picked up their sixth victory of the campaign.

Rob Baxter's Chiefs countered with three penalties of their own through Gareth Steenson (two) and Phil Dollman, and were twice denied potential tries - through Ian Whitten and Tom Johnson - by TV match official David Sainsbury.

LV Cup report: Leicester 39-16 Ospreys

Leicester got their season back on track with a convincing 39-16 victory over the Ospreys in their opening LV= Cup match at Welford Road.

The 2012 champions' win over the 2008 winners was their first in six matches in all competitions and owed much to the boot of 21-year-old Welsh fly-half Owen Williams, who scored 19 points, kicking five penalties and two conversions.

LV Cup report: Wasps 21-24 Saracens

Saracens began their LV= Cup campaign with a nerve-racking 24-21 bonus point victory over north London rivals Wasps.

Seventeen points behind Saracens at one stage, Wasps were rejuvenated and were it not for a last gasp tackle on Tom Howe in the final play of the match, the hosts would have completed a remarkable turnaround.
