Stuart Lancaster included Burgess in the England squad which went out of their home World Cup in the group stages.

He was given time off by Bath coach Mike Ford after the disastrous World Cup campaign and has now played his last game of rugby union.

The news comes less than 24 hours after Bath owner Bruce Craig stated that Burgess would be seeing out the remainder of his contract.
