Gabriel Clarke looks at the history of the haka, and interviews All Blacks legend Wayne 'Buck' Shelford about how he changed the team's approach to the famous war dance.

The haka had become something of an embarrassment before Shelford explained to his New Zealand team-mates its cultural significance.

Shelford says: "There was only 15 of us, we tried to rise to a level that there were 150 of us ... John [Kirwan] was terrible, they were all terrible, most of them don't have any rhythm!."
