Francois Pienaar pleased with Springbok persistence in win over Namibia and says scrum-half Fourie de Preez is improving
South Africa rugby legend Francois Pienaar tells ITV.com/rugbyworldcup editor Luke McLaughlin he was pleased to see the Springboks keep their foot on the gas in the 87-0 success against Namibia.
"In the second half they stepped up a gear. They could have sat back and said ‘We’ve won the game’ but they didn’t do that.
“The players that came on the field impressed and a couple of combinations started working well.
“Some of the South African play was sloppy … but in the second half you couldn’t really fault their performance.”
“Hopefully for them it’s coming together at the right time.”
Pienaar, a Rugby World Cup winner in 1995 with South Africa, believes scrum-half Fourie du Preez is coming into form.
"The more the game time for him the better. The longer you spend on the field the bettwe you will be at your game."
