New Zealand lock Jerome Kaino said the All Blacks had expected France to offer stern opposition, despite expectations that the 2011 World Cup Final might be a one-sided affair.

Speaking after the All Blacks won the match in Auckland by the narrowest of margins, Kaino said that New Zealand had never underestimated the French in their preparations.

And Kaino paid tribute to the French after a "spirited performance" which saw them only lose out 8-7 in the Final.
