Johnson: soft defence killed England against France
Martin Johnson blames England's "soft" defence for the quickfire French tries that killed off his team's World Cup dream.
"What killed us was when we were under pressure they scored two," he said. "It was pretty soft defence from us. That just kills you, 16-0."
The coach said the two early tries from France left his England team chasing what had been "a winnable game".
"We lost our composure when we needed to consolidate."
But Johnson optimistic for the future and said the young team has its "best days ahead of it".
