Victorious New Zealand captain Richie McCaw admitted he was tired but happy after leading his team to World Cup glory in Auckland.

"It’s hard to describe, I'm absolutely shagged," the All Blacks' captain said in the wake of their hard-fought 8-7 final win over France.

"No-one can ever take this away from this group," he added. "They're tough men ... this country should be proud of every single one of them."
