The site of Waikato Stadium, located on the outskirts of Hamilton, has been the home of rugby union in Waikato since Rugby Park first opened in 1925.

The old Rugby Park stadium hosted its final international match in 1987, when Fiji took on Argentina in the inaugural Rugby World Cup. Waikato Stadium, which replaced Rugby Park, opened in 2002 and has a capacity of 25,000.

It will host three matches in the 2011 tournament: New Zealand v Japan (16 Sept.), Wales v Samoa (18 Sept.) and Wales v Fiji (2 Oct.).
