As they packed, Kev hurried Molly along telling her they would miss their train and the earlier they got back the earlier they got back the less time they have to wonder. She pouted: 'You wish we'd gone home yesterday now don't you?' and he replied curtly: 'Well we didn't so let's just get a move on, eh?'

As Leanne wrapped Ken's birthday present, she asked Peter if she had to come with him and Simon to deliver it. He told her no and she replied: 'Okay, well look, don't say anything to them about me packing my job in? I don't want them thinking I am expecting you to keep me. When I've got a new job, which I will today, then you can tell them.' He agreed and set off with Simon to deliver the present and birthday wishes.

As Rosie and Sally discussed Kevin and Molly having to spend an extra night in Glasgow, Sophie told them it wasn't her dad's fault and added: 'I've checked the trains from Glasgow and takes about three and a half hours so if you are expecting to see him any time soon I shouldn't bother.' Sally snorted that they ought to feel sorry for him having to spend another evening with Molly.

As Sophie headed off to school, Rosie snickered: 'Yeah, a night spent talking to Molly Dobbs. I think I'd go mad. She's such a stupid little twerp. She still dresses like she's a kid!' Amazingly, the phone didn't ring with a Mr Pot asking to speak to Rosie. Sally snickered appreciatively and guffawed: 'I bet your dad was livid when he found out there was no train.'

As they crossed the road, Peter suddenly slowed and looked very thoughtfully down the street. Simon asked what was the matter and he replied: 'Nothing. I've just had a thought.' The little one asked what about and he smiled: 'How to solve all our problems in one go.' Simon asked: 'What problems?' and Peter smiled down at him: 'Oh, I forgot. We don't have any do we mate? Come one, let's go wish Granddad a happy birthday.'

Lloyd was not amused as he went to get in his cab to find it unlocked. He was even less amused when he realised someone was curled up on the back seat fast asleep. He opened the back door and sighed wearily: 'Come on pal, sorry to disturb you but we need to use this bedroom of yours as a taxi today.' His eyebrows shot up as the figure stirred and he realised who it was.

It was Teresa and she mumbled groggily that she had nowhere else to go. He asked how she got in there and she replied: 'It was unlocked.' He replied: 'I could dispute that but the fact remains you wouldn't have known it was unless you were trying the door.' As she climbed out she cried: 'I'm bursting. Have you got any facilities in there?' Lloyd told her that whatever facilities they had were not for the general public but with a snort of: 'I'm not the general public, you know who I am.' she ignored him and went inside.

Ken was thrilled with his present and card and, as Deirdre congratulated Simon on how brilliant his hand made card was, Peter asked: 'Dad, you know about railways and that. Who owns the properties tucked under viaducts and that?' Ken replied that he hadn't a clue and asked why but Peter hastily replied: 'Oh no reason. It doesn't matter.' and told Simon they'd better get a move on and get him to school.

Over tea and a bacon sarnie, Teresa thanked Lloyd for his kindness and told him how Darryl evicted her: 'I'm expecting an apology and won't be going back till I've got one.' He told her firmly: 'Well you won't be sleeping in our cars again. That's not an option. Look, I don't know what you did to get thrown out but speak to your Darryl. I'm sure he'll take you back.' She replied that she had her pride and he asked how much money she had. She sniffed: 'A few quid. Happen three.' and he told her with a sigh: 'You can't afford pride. Speak to your Darryl.'

Sheila seemed to be starting as she meant to go on at The Kabin and had barely drawn a breath as she chuntered on about people living together or choosing to live alone: 'You do don't you? Live alone I mean.' Norris began: 'Well, at this time I...' but she chuntered on: 'It's all very well but what happens when you get old, when you get ill. Who'll look after you?' Norris looked almost relieved as the door opened and Peter walked in. He told her just wanted a word with Norris and she beamed: 'Be my guest. Norrie love, you're in demand.'

Peter asked if he knew who owned the joinery place. Norris frowned: 'The deserted one under the viaduct?' only for Sheila to chime in: 'It's amazing isn't it? All these places that nobody seems to own and have forgot about it. You wouldn't catch me forgetting if I owned anywhere.' Welcoming the respite, Norris quickly told him: 'Come on, I'll show you.'

As they crossed the road, Peter asked: 'So is that your new assistant then?' Norris muttered that she was on trial and Peter grinned: 'Do you think you'll find her guilty?' Norris pointed to a tiny card in the window of the joinery place and told him: 'There. That's his telephone number.' Peter gasped: 'Norris, you're a star. How on earth did you know that was there?' and he smiled in reply: 'Oh I like to keep an eye on things.'

As they arrived back, Molly whispered: 'What if they've found out the train wasn't cancelled? There's numbers to call and that.' Kevin frowned and told her they would only have done that if they were suspicious. They fell silent as Ty rushed over from the garage and hugged Molly, telling her that he had missed her.

He asked: 'So what happened: The train just got cancelled?' Kev replied: 'Yeah, it wasn't just us who got stuck either.' Molly embellished: 'Yeah, there were loads of people complaining. There was nearly a riot.' Kev told him that they had no choice but to go back to the hotel for another night and Ty shrugged innocently: 'Oh well, you're back now and that's what matters.' As Kev headed off, Ty went to hug Molly again but she pulled away and told him: 'You need a wash. I'll see you later.' As he headed to the garage he called back: 'Love you.' which she only answered with a forced smile.

Liz asked Deirdre how it felt waking up next to a seventy year old and she replied: 'Actually it was a bit of a surprise. I know how old Ken is, course I do, but he never seems it.' Liz sighed that it was the opposite for her: 'When I was going out with Lloyd I was really aware of the difference in age and I don't think I was the only one either.' Liz looked mildly surprised as Deirdre told her: 'I don't know why you say that. I thought you made a lovely couple and if you're happy with a fella it doesn't matter what age he is.'

As Sally handed Kev his anniversary card, she asked if he and Molly went back to the same hotel. He replied yes and she cried: 'Well give me the bill. I'm sure I can get compensation from somebody. It wasn't your fault the train was cancelled so I don't see why you should be out of pocket. So, have you got it?' He hastily blustered:' 'Do you know, I think I just threw it away. Stupid I know.' but he wasn't off the hook yet as Sally told him: 'Well ring the hotel and tell them to send you a copy.' He assured her he would but she told him: 'No you won't. Give me the number.' and he was forced to bluster that it wasn't worth chasing compensation that they'd probably never get.

Peter had quickly got the keys from the owner and rounded up Bill and asked if he'd cast a builder's eye over the property to see if it was sound. Bill told him it depended on what he wanted to do in the place and Peter replied guardedly: 'Let's just say business premises for now shall we?' Bill laughed: 'Which means you're not going to tell me. fair enough. I'll take a look for you anyway.'

Inside, Bill immediately told him: 'Good news I think. Brickwork's sound and it seems dry enough. You'd smell it if it wasn't. Your nose tells you more than your eyes sometimes. So what's the plan? Are you moving your business over here?' Peter told him he wasn't sure and was just sounding things out at the moment. Bill smiled: 'I did mention my consultancy fee didn't I?' Peter smiled that he didn't think he had and Bill grinned: 'A pint should cover it.' Peter thanked him for his time and they headed for the door.

Lloyd asked Liz why on earth she wanted him to deejay for a seventy and eighty year old's birthday party and told her he'd been through his entire collection and didn't have anything that would get them boogying, She smiled: 'It'll add atmosphere and, besides, maybe they aren't the only reason. Maybe I'd like a bit of company.' Suddenly enthused, he smiled that he would look through his collection again. He was even more keen as she whispered: 'Try and find something a bit romantic.'

He cringed as Teresa walked in and cried: 'Me and you again eh? He can't keep away from me, this one.' He replied that it wasn't from want of trying. Liz asked what she wanted and she replied: 'A pint.' then as she rummaged in her pockets, sighed: 'Actually, you better make it a half.' Lloyd sighed that he would get her a pint and she beamed: 'Isn't he lovely? I am so much in your debt that I am going to have to come and live with you and be your slave for a fortnight.' but Lloyd very hastily assured her that wouldn't be necessary.

Kevin phoned Molly and told her all about Sally wanting the hotel bill to try and claim compensation and quizzing him about how they got home to early. She gasped: 'Oh no.' but he assured her he had dealt with it okay and immediately asked: 'So, when can I see you again?'

Arriving back from their trip, Maria breathed in the Weatherfield air and sighed: 'Well it's definitely not Paris.' Tony agreed but added: 'But it does somehow have a distinct charm of its own.' She smiled and told him it would be nice to put their feet up and have a rest.

They walked in to find Kirk lounging on the sofa and he cried: 'You're back then? Did you have a good time?' Maria replied: 'Kirk, have you even moved while we've been away or have you been glued to that sofa?' He retorted indignantly: 'No, I have moved about quite a lot actually.'

Tony replied dourly: 'But not out.' Kirk replied: 'No, but I am going to.' Tony asked sarcastically if that was likely to happen in the next half hour but it was lost on Kirk who chortled: 'Haha, you've got a sense of humour., you. I'll go put the kettle on. You'll be wanting some good English coffee after all that French stuff.' Tony whispered to Maria: 'Do you think we'll ever have this house to ourselves?' and she smiled: 'Yes, but not today.'

Despite her well meaning nature, Sheila's non stop chatter seemed to be having a wearing effect on poor Norris. As she perused one of the magazines, she chuntered: 'Celebrity this, celebrity that. Who decides who is going to be a celebrity?' He mumbled that he had no idea but she continued: 'Do they have a panel somewhere that draws up a list?' The door opened and she cried in greeting: 'Hello Emily love. Come to check I'm not having my wicked way with your lodger here?' Emily blushed: 'No not really, I just wanted a quarter of chocolate limes.'

As Norris got them, Sheila gushed: 'But we are getting to know each other aren't we Norrie love? Better than one job I had. I was working with someone, like we are, but they were just off the boat from Albania. Poor soul couldn't understand a word I was saying. In the end I had to go to the boss and say look., I'm not prejudiced but she has to go or I do. I can't stand working with someone who can't understand a word I'm saying.' Emily mumbled: 'Yes, that must have been very difficult.' and made a hasty exit leaving Norris to Sheila's wordy attentions once more.

Kirk announced he was just off to take Ozzy for his walk and Tony cried: 'A good long walk. Minimum two hours. That's what a dog needs.' but Kirk replied: 'Not this one. He's whining to come back the minute we set off.' As she went through the post, Maria suddenly exclaimed: 'I don't believe this! It's a letter from John Stape, you know, the one Fiz has married even though he's in prison?' Tony nodded and mused: 'For kidnapping Rosie Webster. You know, I always thought prison was a bit harsh. Now a commendation...'

She read the letter and cried: 'He's asking for our permission to come and live in the street with Fiz.' Tony muttered: 'Well if we can accommodate Kirk...' but she cried: 'Why's he doing that? It's not up to us. Or do you think he's written to everyone? I'm going to ring Fiz.'

Molly looked dismayed as Ty arrived home and beamed: 'I've washed me hands now so can I give you a cuddle?' He told her how much he'd missed her and she cried: 'Don't say that. You make me feel all guilty.' He smiled: 'Alright I won't say it but it's true.' She asked what he wanted for tea and he smiled: 'I don't mind as long as you're here to have it with me.' He was taken aback as she huffed: 'Will you stop it? You're beginning to sound pathetic. I was only gone for two nights. I'm sure most men can cope two nights on their own. Or are you saying I can't go out now cos you can't cope?' He muttered that he was sorry he'd even said anything and had better get back to work. As he reached the door she sighed: 'I'm sorry, you're not pathetic.' but he just sighed: 'See you later.'

As they walked along, Leanne sighed: 'There's plenty of bar jobs about but the problem is it's a basic wage and I'd be working every night so I'd hardly see you and Simon. Where are we going anyway?' Peter smiled: 'Here.' and she looked up and frowned: 'Turner's Joinery?'

She frowned: 'Why? Hey and how have you got a key?' He unlocked the door as he smiled: 'From Mr Turner, once a joiner, now retired. And hey, be careful where you're stepping.'

He ushered her inside and she cried: 'Well why do you want a key anyway? Oh come on Peter, just tell me what's going on. Please?' He flicked on the lights and smiled: 'Ta-daa! You said you wanted a challenge. Well here it is! The biggest challenge of your life!' She replied: 'Which right now is trying to work out what the hell you are going on about.' He smiled: 'What I'm on about is our future.' and enthused: 'What we do is put a bar in here. Something flash, upmarket. Weatherfield's place to be, and you run it. You're the boss and I help you.'

He kissed her and smiled: 'That way, you get the challenge you want and we get the life together that we want. So what do you say? Yes?' As Leanne looked around the place with excitement in it didn't seem likely that the answer would be no.

Asked where he came in the race, Kevin lied: 'Three hundred and forty-seventh.' Sophie smirked: 'In that race you were definitely in? In Glasgow yesterday?' He replied yes and was stunned as Sophie asked pointedly: 'So why aren't you on their website then?'

Kevin listened in horror and she told him: 'I'll show you if you want. There's a photo of everybody who ran the race and the order they finished in and I can't find one of you anywhere!'
