Lloyd awoke, jolted into consciousness by his own snores. He blinked as he came to and slowly the world came into focus. The bedroom, the bedside table... and the empty bottle of tequila sat on it. Suddenly, flashbacks of the night before swam into his mind and he gave a pained groan. But wait, perhaps it was just a bad dream he had had? Sadly for Lloyd, his memories proved to be only too real as the bedroom door flew open and in marched Teresa with two mugs of tea.

He looked dazed as she clambered back into bed and told him: 'That fridge of yours is a disgrace. With a decent leader that mould could take over Europe. Still, there's worse things in life than black tea isn't there?' It looked like Lloyd was only too aware of that fact as she whispered: 'Get your lovely lips round that lover boy. We need to keep your strength up.'

As Molly left for work, Ty griped that he could remember a time when she didn't leap out of bed at the alarm. She snapped back: 'I wasn't in the mood. Get over it!' He asked sarkily: Why you going in so early anyway? Up for a promotion? Head of beans? Brush supervisor?' She told him they couldn't all be captains of industry like him and he sighed that it they used to be like this only for her to snap: 'Something you're not telling me Ee-aw? Clinically depressed? Bi-polar bear? Look I am going to work to earn money to pay the mortgage, and to buy stuff, alright? Now goodbye, husband!'

As Leanne prepared to go to the bank, Peter enthused: 'How could anyone say no? A vision in an overpriced business suit!' She asked if it was a good idea and he shrugged: 'We're only seeing if it's possible. No harm in that.' She cried: 'What if it all goes wrong? Bills, floods, staff walkouts, bankruptcy?' He grinned: 'Well that's positive. Look, I could cope. I've been to the meetings, I've heard all the stories. Alcoholics fall of the wagon for any reason, because they're happy, because it's a sunny day. I don't ever want to drink again. I don't want chaos, I want you and Simon. I want all them things in life that are good and true.'

Ken approached them and told them: 'I don't want to say I regret the things I said but I do regret the way I said them.' Peter snorted: 'Hear that? It's as close as you'll get to hearing me dad grovelling... unless it's to one of his wives after an affair.' Ken gasped that his comment was completely unnecessary and below the belt but Peter snapped: 'Then you'll know how it feels then won't you?' then turned to Leanne and kissed her on the cheek as he told her: 'Bring that loan home, Leanne.'

Lloyd watched in horror as Teresa dragged on a fag then proceeded to cough up half a lung before exclaiming: 'I don't know about you but it takes me longer and longer to clear me pipes of a morning.' She realised he hadn't touched his tea and asked: 'What's up doll face? You could trot a mouse on that.' His stomach churning, he grimaced: I can't drink it black.' and she breezed: 'You should have said. I'll scout for supplies.' He blustered that there was no need and looked even more ill as she smiled: 'It's fine. I want you perky. You've got a very busy morning ahead of you.'

Minutes later, she pitched up at the shop, filled her arms with provisions and told Umed: 'I'm in a bit of a rush. Stick it on the tab.' Dev gasped in astonishment as Umed pulled a book out and mused: 'She's almost completely paid up.' Dev grabbed it and cried: 'What is this? Don't we have a notice about punching people who ask for credit? He surveyed the book and cried: 'And you bought ketchup yesterday! It's for accompanying food. You don't tank it down like beer!' She cried back at him: 'It's not for me!'

She took a theatrical pause then cried proudly: 'It's for Lloyd.' They looked at her as she grinned like a loon: 'I know. What can I say? I'm a dirty stopout!', gathered up her groceries in her arms and looking very pleased with herself, made a hasty exit., a stunned Dev yelling after her: 'I'm adding interest!'

Kev asked Ty why he was taking so long doing a job: 'You're replacing a gearbox not doing open heart surgery on your firstborn. What's the matter with you? You've had a face on you all day.' Ty snapped: 'So it's not enough that I come in, I work hard? I have to have a stupid grim all over me face as well/.' Kev held his hands up and replied: 'I was only asking. I wanted to make sure you were aright. I'm a caring sharing kind of boss.' but Ty snapped: 'Well I'm fine and this will be done in ten minutes!'

Seeing his mother scurrying along in a man's coat, Darryl asked where she was going: 'The only place you ever rush to is the pub. Oh no, you haven't. You've copped off with someone haven't you?' She beamed: 'Yes, I have had sexual relations with a man. Is that so unbelievable?' and he replied: 'Frankly, it's gobsmacking. Who? I don't know anyone that sad or desperate. Or that unhygienic come to that.' She cried back: 'It was Lloyd. And it was a laugh. And it could be somewhere!'

Darryl looked up as a taxi pulled away from the office and retorted with a smirk: 'Well Lloyd certainly is!' Teresa watched with mouth agape as Lloyd, attempting to look as invisible as possible, vanished into the distance and Darryl asked sarcastically: 'So is the start of something unique and beautiful or just a bitterly regretted bunk up from hell? Vote now. Wake up and smell last night's curry in your hair Mum. You ain't girlfriend material.'

As Sean whined that his machine wasn't working properly, Rosie told him that the problem was his sausage like fingers. He cried indignantly: 'I have a very slender digit thank you and I've never had any problems with my threading. It's the needle. It's... impacted!' Tony sneered: 'Impacted? That's a very long word Sean, perhaps you could help Luke with his Guardian crossword.' Luke snapped: 'Rapier like.' and went off to assist Sean.

Tony announced he was off out and told Rosie to take down a message to leave for Luke then dictated with a smile: 'Luke, you are a childish miserable skiver. If you are looking for me I won't answer my phone.'

Lloyd was taken aback when Teresa turned up at the office, threw his coat at him and asked: 'That you being kind this morning was it?' He sighed: 'Look, I'm sorry. I was guilty and hung-over. Couldn't face anyone.' She asked what there was to be guilty about but before he could answer the door opened and Liz walked in. He hastily cried at Teresa: 'Yeah, course we can. We'll pick you up in about an hour.' Teresa growled with narrowed eyes: 'You owe me one.' and departed.

Liz asked why he owed her one. Claire muttered from reading her magazine: 'Sounds like he's already given...' but he blustered: 'We were late last time we picked her up.' Liz apologised for how she was with him last night and confessed: 'After, me head was all over the place. I can't even think. Can we go for a drink? I don't want to make a mistake. Let's be sure.' He told her he was already sure and she smiled: 'Well good. Pick me up early doors and we'll bob into town.'

Ty asked Kev if they could go for a drink after work. Kev asked why and he replied: 'There's stuff I need to ask.' Kev told him to ask now but he cried: 'No, it's not work, it's personal.' Kevin told him to tell him and that he had him worried now and Tyrone sighed: 'It's Molly.' Kevin asked guardedly: 'Why? What's wrong with her?' but Tyrone snapped back: 'I said not now. Are we going for a drink after work or what?'

Lloyd's day got worse as he discovered that his night with Teresa was public knowledge in the shop. He begged: 'Guys, please. Can we keep this entre nous?' Dev assured him: 'This is a shop not a gossip centre. Our bouches are fermed!', Umed adding with a smile: 'As long as you buy something expensive. Our champagne range is extensive and very competitively priced to compete with the larger supermarkets.' Lloyd took it in good part and laughed: 'That is blackmail and I'll not give into it. I'll have a half bottle of whiskey.'

Kev crept in and hissed at Molly: 'What have you said to Tyrone? Does he know anything?' and told her he wanted him to go for a drink with him to talk about her. She shrugged: 'Then go for a drink with him. What's the worst that could happen?'

Lloyd asked Darryl if he'd seen his mum and looked shamefaced when he snapped: 'Not as much as you did last night. You know, driving off was a scummy thing to do. She's not a piece of dirt. She's my mum!' Lloyd confessed: 'You know what it's like, you wake up, hangover, you've made a mistake, you don't want to deal with rejecting someone, you do a runner.' Darryl nodded but then sighed: 'I don't know why I'm nodding. I've never done anything like that.' Lloyd produced the bottle of whiskey and told him he wanted to apologise to her properly but Darryl just shook his head and told him sarcastically: 'What a beautiful gesture. I'm deeply touched.'

As Maria showed off the christening outfit she'd bought for little Liam, Tony reached out to take her bags. She told him she was quite capable of managing but he smiled: 'Ah, the thing is my dad was a tradional gent and I always get the feeling he'd be looking down at me disapprovingly.' She handed him the bags and told him she was sure his father would be looking down on him feeling very proud. As she want inside, Tony look grimly up to the heavens and murmured a dour: 'Maybe.'

It was not good news from the bank as Leanne returned and told Peter that they wouldn't lend them the full amount needed to get the bar idea off the ground. As he fumed that it was their taxes keeping the banks afloat, she smiled: 'Well, there are other banks I suppose.' and he smiled: 'Yeah, let's not give up hope just yet. I've still got the keys. Let's go take another look under the arches, eh?'

As the staff knocked off for the day, Tony told Rosie she could go too. She frowned: 'Don't you need me for anything.' but he asked sarcastically: 'Like what?' She asked Luke if he was coming for a drink but he told her: 'No., I'm working late too.' Tony told him not to feel he had to but he smiled: 'See you tomorrow Rosie.'

Another look at the workshop had only increased Peter and Leanne's enthusiasm for the project as she enthused: 'I think it could be amazing. Glass front, mood lighting. It could be an epic bar.' Peter smiled: 'Just like the ones in town.' and she beamed: 'We're gonna have to draw up some proper plans, wow 'em!'

Seeing them emerging from under the viaduct, Ken gasped: 'You cannot be serious? Here? Your suicidal plan is also your local plan? Well this takes you to a whole new level of stupidity.' Peter told him it had nothing to do with him but Deirdre replied: 'If you are thinking of opening a bar on this street it's to do with everyone!' Peter snapped at her not to try and make out it was some local planning issue: 'We all know what this is really about and I'm old enough to make my own decisions.' but Ken fired back as they walked away: 'Yes, and I'm old enough to know that they are bad ones!'

Lloyd told Claire that he was going to tell Liz about last night: 'I mean, we weren't going out when it happened and if we get back together, which I hope we do, I want to tell her everything.' She asked why he was trying to shut Teresa up if he was going to tell all to Liz and he cried: 'I can't have Teresa blabbing off. She's a nut! If Liz hears it from her it will not end prettily' Claire snickered: 'Just like your night.' and he wailed: 'That's enough. There's only so many you pulled a minger jokes a man can...' He trailed off hastily as the door opened and Teresa walked in.

She told him: 'Darryl said you were looking for me.' He asked if they could step outside but she snapped: 'Just get it over with. Surprise me. We're not getting married are we?' He asked her not say anything to Liz and confessed that he wanted to get back with her. He proffered the bottle of whiskey to her and she mused: 'Well, what can I say? This is more than I usually get for one of me notches. You count as a success. Adios!'

As Ken moaned about Peter, Janice chimed in that it wasn't Leanne's fault that his son was an alcoholic. He snapped back: 'Yes but it is her fault that he's thinking of opening a bar!' Liz looked puzzled and Sean explained: 'Leanne and Peter are opening a bar in the old joiners on Viaduct Street.' As Liz gawped open mouthed, Janice insisted: 'He can make his own decisions. He can't drink so he won't!'

Peter and Leanne walked in and, seeing Janice and Ken facing each other adversarially, muttered: 'Oh great. Are we in time for a row?'

He was caught off guard as Liz asked him outright: 'What's this about you opening up a pub at the end of the street?' Peter looked at his father in disbelief and snapped at him: 'Oh thanks Dad. That's the best way of breaking the news to the local pub?' Liz cried they were barely making a living as it was and Peter told her: 'It's alright Liz, we don't want these punters.'

Ken muttered to Deirdre: 'Come on, let's go finish our walk.' and Peter sneered: 'Yeah, now you've dropped your bombshell you can scuttle away.' Ken snapped that it was a matter of conscience but Peter snarled: 'No, it's a matter of control. You really are a ridiculous old ponce, aren't you?'

Lloyd arrived and Liz ushered him into the back, watched by a sour looking Teresa. He confessed to having a one night stand and pleaded: 'I was drunk, I was lonely, I was depressed about us. I thought we'd never get back together.' She asked who with but he told her: 'That doesn't really matter. It didn't mean anything. I just wanted you to know.' She told him she didn't really know what to say but conceded: 'I can't really object can I?'

He told her: 'You can say what you want. I just wanted to be honest, that's all. I really really really want to make this work.' She thanked him and they kissed then she smiled: 'Well shall we go out, see if we still get on?' He told her he wouldn't be a jif and headed up the stairs to the loo.

Back in the bar, where Teresa had been liberally adding the whiskey Lloyd gave her to her lemonade, Michelle asked Liz what was up and she replied: 'Lloyd's just told me, he's had a flipping one night stand.' Michelle sighed: 'Thank goodness for that. I've been in a panic all day. I didn't know what to say and I wasn't sure if you'd even want to know.' Liz frowned: 'Well when did you find out?' and, oblivious to Lloyd frantically signaling to her to shut up from the doorway, continued: 'I saw Teresa in the corner shop buying breakfast. She was full of it!'

Liz frowned in stark disbelief: 'Teresa?' She looked at Lloyd and asked: 'Last night? You slept with that tragic slapper?' The sound of breaking glass rang out as Teresa swept glasses off the bar and onto the floor as she snarled: 'Tragic? Who are you calling tragic?' The pair locked eyes as Liz marched menacingly towards her.
