It was a numb and ashen looking Tony that returned to his car outside the church. Carla's ultimatum still swam round inside his head. Sell his shares of the factory to her, abandon Maria and baby Liam and get out of Weatherfield or she would tell all.

Having barricaded herself in the office, Rosie search frantically for the accounts folder on the computer but to no avail, Luke having already wiped it. Julie banged on the door, crying that they needed more sequins to complete the Appleton order. Rosie screamed at her to tell Appletons to go and die and Kelly snickered: 'Has someone nicked her car again. Or has she developed a compulsion to relive her ordeal with John Stape?'

Kevin and Sally arrived and Kev hammered on the door and told Rosie to let him in. She screamed: 'Go away. Only Tony and Carla can sort this out!' and he cried: 'Have you tried ringing him?' She screeched manically: 'Of course I have. Do you think I am stupid?' Kelly looked at Julie with a smile, already knowing the answer to that one.' Kevin told her they needed to tell the police and told her: 'Just come home and we can talk about it.' but she yelled defiantly: 'No! I am going nowhere!'

Still dazed by today's unexpected turn of events, Tony pulled up outside the factory, oblivious to the goings on inside. He hadn't even noticed the large boat that had suddenly appeared next to his parking spot and, as he turned the engine off, he just sat there in silence seemingly unable to move.

Gail gasped that she couldn't believe Joe had paid nine hundred and fifty pounds for the boat. He cried defensively: 'In instalments. It's a bargain.' Audrey sighed: 'I'll leave you to it. I've a christening to go to. Bon Voyage!' and as she headed off, David grinned: 'Never mind Joe. It'll be bonfire night soon!' Graeme ambled up and asked who's dumped that there. David joked: 'Careful Graeme, don't go sticking your oar in.'

Joe told him it was his and Graeme smirked: 'Are you expecting heavy rain? I suppose the ice caps will melt eventually.' David laughed that it would take Joe that long to fix it up but Joe cried: 'You can laugh all you want but when it's done up it will be worth at least seven thousand quid.' Gail gasped: 'Really?' and asked: 'And how much are you going to have to spend to do it up.' He shrugged: 'Seven hundred maybe. A grand tops.' Suddenly more interested, she smiled: 'So, quite a profit.' He smiled back: 'And we'll get some fun out if it, out on the lakes, a bottle of wine under the moon? It's so quiet out there you could hear a pin drop.'

Tony was jolted from his thoughts by a banging on the window and found Julie in a state of panic. He wound down the window as she cried: 'Thank God you're here. Rosie's locked herself in the office. She won't come out!' He told her to deal with it but, when she cried: 'Look, Kevin's asked her if she's called the police. I don't know what that's about! And Luke's gone awol!' he quickly climbed out of the car and headed into the factory.

Inside, he yelled at Rosie to open the door but she wailed: 'Not till you have got me my money back!' He asked Sally if she had any idea what she was on about and she grimaced: 'It's complicated.' He took out his key to open it but found it was locked from inside. Losing patience, he slammed into the door with his shoulder, almost ripping it from its hinges and yelled at Rosie: 'What the hell do you think you are playing at?'

No answer came and he growled: 'I don't have time for this Sally!' Sally told him she had been cheated out of money: 'She thought she was buying Luke's shares and he's run off with it all.' Tony asked: 'Run off where?' and Kevin told him that Joe had seen him leaving with his bags: 'I've just been to the flats. His car's gone.' Tony told Rosie she would have to take it up with her solicitor. She screeched: 'Why can't you get it back for me?' but he replied: 'Because it's got nothing to do with me. Now go home with your mum and dad.' She refused but he yelled: 'Rosie, just go home! Please!' As she scurried from the office with her parents he turned and told Julie that everyone else could go home too.

Emily arrived at the shop and Norris sighed: 'Oh, it's you.' She told him she was sorry it wasn't someone more exciting and asked who he was expecting. He replied: 'Joan!' She enquired: 'Of Arc? Collins?' and he tutted: 'The woman I told you about who is coming for an interview. And I'll have you know she is a very promising candidate. I've just been though her cv again. She's got oodles of experience.' Emily mocked: 'Oodles eh? She must be very good if she's got oodles.' He sniped: 'Has Blanche had you on the sherry again?' She told him that she had come in to tell him something interesting: 'But if you are going to be like this...'

He asked what but they were interrupted as Tina stomped in, moaning about her father buying himself a boat. Norris asked what was wrong with that and she cried: 'One, he can't afford it and two, it's such a wreck it will need a miracle to ever do it up.'

Norris told her: 'Yes, but if it gives him pleasure. I don't know, you young people. You need to learn to see things from the other's point of view!' She told him sarcastically she was glad he felt like that. He asked why and she snapped: 'because for the next year at least, you're going to be staring at it!' He gasped: 'You mean...?' and ran for the shop door.

Norris told Joe: 'I hope this isn't staying here. It's an eyesore.' Joe retorted that it wouldn't be when he had done it up and Norris gasped: 'Don't tell me you are planning on doing it here.' Joe replied that he had nowhere else to do it. Graeme grinned: 'Don't worry Norris. It'll be a two week wonder then he'll get fed up of it.' Joe snapped: 'A thousand quid says I won't.' Graeme retorted that he hadn't got a thousand quid to bet and Joe told him: 'Then shut your sarky little gob and get back to your butchers shop!' David mused that it reminded him of when he used to go fishing with his dad. Gail smiled: 'Yeah, we had some good times doing that.' and Joe told them: 'Well you can again soon. We all can.'

Still with no sign of Tony, Audrey mused that they would need a stand in godfather at this rate. Kirk enthused that he wouldn't mind and Helen muttered: 'We can do without the village idiot thank you.' Fiz bridled: 'What?' and Barry hastily cried: 'She said that Ryan wouldn't mind standing in.' Fiz pointed out that Kirk was the baby's uncle but Helen retorted: 'So is Ryan, and his name is Connor.' Maria snapped anxiously that there wouldn't be any need because Tony was sure to be there any minute.

But, as they waited anxiously, Tony sat alone in the deserted factory drinking scotch from a mug and pondering his entire world turned upside down. He glanced down as his phone rang again but, seeing it was Maria again, he didn't answer.

Kevin asked Rosie if she wanted him to run her to the police station but she wailed: 'Like they are going to catch him. He's probably on a plane to Timbuktu by now!' Kevin pointed out that they had no chance of catching him if she didn't report it. She asked where her mum was and he sighed: 'Out, asking round if anybody had spoken to him.' She screeched inconsolably: 'Like he would have told anyone!' Sophie put down a teaspoon and told her: 'Here, drink this.'

Rosie screeched: 'Tea? Tea? What's tea going to do?' Sophie replied that they said you should drink sweet tea when you've had a shock but her sister squawked: 'What? You want me to ruin my figure as well? Are you stupid?' Sophie mumbled that she was just trying to help but Rosie merely screeched selfishly: 'Then get me my money back then!'

Ty was delighted to see Jack and Connie and asked how they were. Jack looked round and mused: 'By 'eck lad, you've smartened this place up haven't you?' Ty looked very proud and cried: 'Come on, sit yourselves down. I'll get the beers.' Molly came downstairs and they wished her a happy birthday and handed her a card and gift.

She was thrilled with the handbag they'd bough her and Connie asked: 'So what did the hubby get you?' Molly told them he'd got her a card and some chocolates. Jack laughed that that was what he always got Vera and Connie elbowed him and told him she hoped that was a joke. Ty smiled mysteriously: 'Well, there might be something else if she's a good girl.'

As they prepared to leave for the church, Maria tried to call Tony one last time. Still sat alone in the factory, he looked at his phone again then at the picture of himself, Maria and Liam sat on his desk. He suddenly seemed to come to a decision and picked up the phone and told her: 'Maria. I am so sorry. I am coming right now.'

He hurried from the factory and apologised, telling them there had been a major crisis: 'Luke has done a runner with all of Rosie's money. She thought she was buying his shares but she was buying thin air.' Fiz gasped: 'What? He's just run off?' Tony replied that he didn't think he'd be coming back. Maria gasped: 'But your money's safe though?' He sighed: 'Yes but I still had to close the factory and go through everything with a fine tooth comb, make sure he hadn't taken anything else. I'm sorry, I should have rang.' Helen asked if he still had things to do over there and he replied shakily: 'Yes, but let's just get to the church eh?'

Norris returned to the shop, fuming about Joe's boat: 'I mean, there's no law to say he can't park it there but then they wonder why neighbours end up killing each other.' Tina interrupted as she told him: 'Norris? This is Joan. Come about the job?' He broke into a smile and gushed: 'Ah, you found us alright did you?' She gave the smallest of nods to indicate yes and he smiled ingratiatingly: 'Did you have to come far.'

Her face impassive, she replied with a monosyllabic: 'No.' He asked: 'Oh, so you're from round here then?' Her face registered the very slightest of frowns as she replied with equal lack of verbosity: 'Yes.' He asked her if she would like a cup of tea and she launched into a veritable filibuster as she replied: 'No thank you.' Looking a little disconcerted, Norris ushered her through to the back to they could have a nice (if one sided) chat.

As they sat in silence, Sophie opined sarkily: 'Well at least you are talking about it. The worst thing you can do is bottle it up.' but Rosie snapped: 'Oh don't you give me any of your psychobabble.' and flounced from the table. Sally arrived home and Kev asked if she's had any luck but she sighed that nobody knew a thing. He asked: 'What about Michelle?' but she told him: 'I saw her going to the christening but she is as shocked as everyone else.'

Sally asked Rosie how she was feeling and she squawked predictably: 'I have just been screwed out of ninety grand Mum. How do you think I am feeling? I really thought he loved me and all the time he was just after my money!' Kevin muttered that he couldn't help but feel it was a blessing in disguise: 'This money from Stape has caused nothing but trouble.' Rosie replied: 'Well at least I've still got my nine percent of the factory.' Her relief was short-lived however as Kevin asked: 'And who did you buy that nine percent from? Luke?' She nodded miserably and he sighed: Then that's nine percent of nothing.'

As they headed into the church, Tony's phone beeped. Maria sighed: 'Who's that?' Tony muttered that whoever it was could wait. Kirk asked: 'What if it's Luke? but he replied: 'Not my problem.' They were just about to go in when Maria cried: 'Oh Tony, I've left he bag in the car.' He told her he would go get it and handed the baby over to Barry to take inside.

As he headed back to the car he took out his phone to read the text he had received and stopped in his tracks as he read what it said.

He looked around anxiously and soon found the sender. As their eyes locked on each other, he started to walk towards her car.

Spotting Kevin, Ty asked if he was alright. He sighed: 'Bit of a nightmare with Rosie. I'll explain later. I thought you'd be in the pub.' Ty cried: 'They are all in there now. I'm wrapping Mol's present. I was going to ask you to give me a hand.' Kevin frowned: 'What? Wrapping it?' and Ty smiled: 'No, carrying it. It's a bit heavy!'

Tony asked Carla what the hell she thought she was doing. She cried: 'What am I doing? You're the one meant to be disappearing!' He hissed that it was a private matter but she spat: 'If you think I'm gonna let you go in there and play happy families you can think again! You are going to get in your car and go otherwise I am walking into that church and telling everyone what happened.' He told her she wouldn't do that but, turning on her heel, she hissed: 'Just try me!' He grabbed her arm and implored: 'Just wait till after the service. I am begging you!'

Molly was surprised by the sight of Tyrone and Kevin struggling into The Rovers with a huge box. She gasped: 'What is it?' and Ty beamed that it was her real present. Looking at the size of it, Jack laughed: 'I don't think it's them earrings you wanted.' as Ty told her to open it and see.

She was delighted to find Tyrone had bought her a home gym but her delight faded a little as he enthused: 'Well I thought it would save you some money as well. You've been spending so much time at the gym, now you can work out at home and I might get to see a bit more of you as well.' She murmured that it was great as she and Kevin exchanged a knowing look.

Carla cried: 'Do you think I'm going to stand here and let you go through with this charade?' He begged to her to let him go to the christening and told her he would meet her at the factory at four. She snapped: 'I told you, I don't want to see the girls.' but he told her he had already sent them home for the day: 'It'll just be the two of us. I'll sign everything over to you then I'll be gone. Let Maria have this one moment before I'm out of her life forever.'

He pleaded: 'She's the mother of the son of the man you loved.' but she spat: 'The man you had killed!' He continued: 'It's his flesh and blood. At least let him have a proper baptism.' She asked how she could know he would come and he replied: because if I don't you'll tell her everything and that's more than I can bear.' She spat: 'But Liam's death on your conscience isn't!' He told her firmly: 'Four o'clock. That's three hours earlier than we agreed. Then I'll be gone.' She eyed him then conceded: 'Okay, four o'clock. You try anything...' but he sighed: 'There's nothing left to try. You've seen to that.' With that she turned and walked back to her car and drove off.

Tony watched her go them slowly took out his mobile and dialled a number. As someone answered he told them: 'Jimmy? It's me. I'm at the old church of Raglan Street. I need to see you right away. Carla's back.'
