Finding Tony chatting away happily to Ozzy in the back yard, Maria laughed that she had no need to worry about him being lonely while she was gone. He smiled and asked how long she had been there and she giggled: 'Long enough to wonder if I should be worried about you two.' He looked shamefaced and confessed: 'Well, sometimes when you're asleep I sneak downstairs, snuggle up with Ozzy and we watch old movies together. Turner and Hooch, Lassie Come Home.' then grinned: 'Enough about my private life. How's the packing going?

She told him she was nearly done and he replied that he had better give Lloyd a call and remind him he was taking her to the airport. As he went to step inside, he put his hand to his chest and looked pained. She asked what was wrong and he replied: 'Indigestion. Either that or I'm getting ill at the thought of you going.' She told him it was only for a couple of days till he came over and he pouted that it would still be lonely without her. She whispered: 'Well, Liam's asleep and Lloyd isn't due for a while.' He asked: 'Are you thinking what I think you're thinking?' and she grabbed his hand and dragged him towards the stairs.

As Rosie slouched downstairs, Sally cried sarkily: 'You're up! Any chance you might fall into some clothes today?' but got a snapped: 'What's the point? I'm not going anywhere.' Kevin told her if she was worried about money she could sell something: 'Like you car.' Rosie screeched: 'No way. I love that car.' He shrugged: 'Okay, well what about that handbag you bought? How much did that cost you? Two grand?'

She sighed: 'Three actually. Anyway I can't sell that.' Sally asked why not and she told them: 'A few weeks ago me and Minnie were in this club and it got nicked.' (Which was rather odd because she was clearly seen getting her phone from it in Luke's flat to phone the bank when she discovered he'd done a runner just a week ago.) Kevin flew at her for being so stupid and she wailed: 'It's not all my fault. It's not my fault he lied and cheated me. All I ever did was love and trust him.' and as she flounced from the room,. Sally gasped at him: 'What is the matter with you?'

Michelle phoned Dev and told him about his builder's behaviour yesterday. He was amused by it but she cried: 'How would you like it if someone came in through your window and... Never mind. Look, just get it sorted or I will find the most expensive builder I can and bill you for it!' As she rang off angrily, Ryan asked what was the matter and was outraged when she told him about the builder kissing her and cried: 'Well you must have done something to make him think you were up for it.'

She cried: Ryan. I did nothing. I was in the bath when it happened. I threw a towel on and...' Ryan cut her off as he snorted: 'God, it's sounds like some dodgy porno!' and she cried: 'Oh thanks a lot.' He announced he was going into town and asked Ben if he was coming. He told him yes and asked: 'Are you going to be alright Mrs Connor?' Michelle assured him she was fine and smiled: 'And I told you, it's Michelle.' As she left the room, Ryan mocked: 'Are you gonna be alright Mrs Connor? You loser!'

Tony told Maria to call him when she got there and she replied: 'I might be able to do a bit better than that. There's an internet cafe up the road from me mum and dad's and they've got one of those webcam thingies so you just make sure you're at your computer about five your time.' He grinned: 'Hmm, very twenty first century.' He kissed her and told her he loved her and told Lloyd to make sure he took care of her.

Pam asked Roy how his holiday was and he replied: 'The word eventful springs to mind.' She looked at his neck and when he asked what she was doing she laughed: 'Checking for fang marks.' He sighed: 'Ah, I take it you are referring to the archaic and somewhat xenophobic notion that Transylvania is populated by vampires.' and she laughed: 'There's no flies on you eh? Or should I say bats?' He enthused: 'No but ironically I am hoping, with a colleague form the Weatherfield Wildlife Conservation Society, to view some Pipistrelle this very evening!'

She frowned: 'Come again?' and he explained: 'A species of bat. It will be our last chance to view them in flight before they hibernate for the winter.' She told him it sounded fascinating and he enthused: 'If you are interested you are very welcome to join us.' but she confessed: 'Happen I was being polite. Anyway, I better get on and make these sandwiches and get back out there.' and he gave her a wry look as she opined: 'I don't know what it is but people can't seem to get enough of my baps today!'

Rosie turned up at the factory and told Tony she needed his help to find Luke. He told her that if he knew where he was he would tell her and she wailed: 'What am I supposed to do? He's taken all my money!' Kelly suggested: 'Get a job?' but was told: 'Get stuffed.' Tony told her he was looking for a PA but Rosie screeched: 'No way. No way am I going that again!' Kelly cried that she would be up for it and Sally sniped: 'Come off it. At least Rosie could spell PA.' Kelly seethed: 'And you reckon you could do better do you?' Sally replied: 'Yes I could.' and was pleasantly surprised as Tony told her: 'We can start you with a month's trial and see how you get on.'

Sally beamed: 'And will I get more money?' Tony told her he was sure they could sort something out and Rosie screeched: 'Mum? You can't be serious!' Tony pointed out he did give her first refusal but she snapped: Drop dead!' and stomped off towards the door. Watching her go, Tony muttered: 'I'll take that as a no then.'

The day of Ashley's vasectomy was here and he was a bag of nerves and not helped by Graeme winding him up by assuring him: 'Mate, they do this day in day out. They've snipped more spaghetti than Pavarotti. What could possibly go wrong? Unless they sneeze when they are...' and mined a pair of scissors cutting. Josh piped up: 'Mummy? Is Daddy getting a haircut?' and she smiled: 'Something like that love, yes.' As they headed off, Graeme cried: 'Good luck boss. Or should that be..' He raised his voice an octave and cried: 'Good luck!', receiving a venomous glare from Ashley for his trouble.

Liz cried in disbelief: 'So let me get this straight. Hair lairy builder falls off his ladder and is dangling from your roof. You help him in, probably saving his life and his way of showing gratitude is to try and snog your face off?' Michelle replied: 'Yeah, that's about it. Unbelievable isn't it?' Liz's face broke into a smile as she replied: 'Yes it is... you jammy cow!'

Rosie stormed into the pub, followed by both Sally and Kevin, and ordered a large white wine. Kev asked if she was going to tell him what this was all about and she hissed: 'Why don't you ask her? She betrayed me. My own mother. She took my job!' Sally cried: 'If you wanted it why didn't you say so?' Rosie snapped: 'I don't want it. I don't want his stinking money!' As Sally sighed in exasperation, Michelle put Rosie's drink on the bar. The unhappy teen looked it it then wailed miserably: 'I haven't got any money!'

Kevin paid for her drink and Sally told her that she knew she was upset but that it was Luke she should be blaming. Rosie snivelled: 'And that's what really hurts. I know you all think I'm stupid.' There was a pause while she waited for them to contradict her and when no-one did, she wailed: 'But I really loved him! How could he do this to me?' then broke down sobbing in her father's arms, just as Molly walked through the door. Clearly, seeing Kevin in his role as family man was the last thing she wanted to see and she quickly turned and hurried out of the pub.

Pulling the curtains aside she gasped at the sight of the builder stood there on his ladder. She cried: 'What do you think you are doing?' but he put his hand to his ear and mouthed silently: 'I can't hear you. I'm going up to the roof.' She yelled back indignantly: 'No you are not! Get down and then get lost.' but he merely smiled and ignored her as he carried on climbing upwards. Fuming, she stamped across the room and picked up the phone,

Pam demanded to know when Molly was going to tell Tyrone what was going on and that it wasn't just going to go away. Molly cried in reply: 'Don't you think I know that every time I see them working together? Or when I'm laid in bed wondering how the hell I got into this mess..' Pam cried: 'So what are you going to do.' but the only answer Molly had was: 'It's my mess. I'll sort it, alright?'

Michelle had called the police and, on their arrival, told them the builder was harassing and stalking her. The officer's reply of: 'From up there?' didn't go down too well and she screeched: 'Look, it's him you should be questioning, not me.' With a sigh, the officer cried: 'Sir?' He got no response and Michelle walked over, kicked his ladder and screamed at the top of her voice: 'Oi!' The officer cried hastily: 'Madam, if you'd let me deal with this please? Sir could you come down a moment please?' and Jake shrugged amiably and began to descend.

Ashley arrived home in considerable discomfort to be greeted by Josh who was ready to go trick or treating. Ashley told him he looked great and asked: 'Are you a zombie?' only to be told: 'No, I'm a ghoulie.' Ghoulies were the last thing Ashley needed reminding of and Claire told him: 'It's ghoul Josh, not ghoulie. So, how was it? Did you go through with it this time.' Ashley replied: 'I wouldn't be walking like this if I didn't, would I?' and she winced: 'Does it hurt much?' He told her with a pained expression: 'Aye, but it was worth it.'

She told him she was taking the kids trick or treating and suggested: 'Look, why don't you just sit down and take it easy? We'll be back in a bit.' Joshua watched as his father walked bow legged to the sofa and slowly sat down. As Ashley sat there nursing his bruised plums, innocent little Josh cried: 'Mummy?' Claire answered:' Yes?' and he told her sagely: 'I'm never getting my hair cut again!'

Online and through to Tony, Maria enthused: 'How weird is this?' He smiled: 'What, that we're chatting in cyberspace or you got the webcam working.' and she confessed that she'd asked the man in the cafe to set it up for her. He told her he didn't know she spoke any Greek and she laughed: 'I didn't need to. he's from Bolton!' She asked if he was missing and, when he replied: 'We both are.' frowned: 'We?'

She burst out laughing as Ozzy appeared and cried: 'Oh now I really am getting worried about you two!' Tony told her that there had been fireworks going off and that he didn't want to leave him in the house on his own and smiled as she replied: 'I would have said get Schmeichel round for a bit of company but after what happened to that bathroom rug last time I don't think that's a good idea, do you?'

The police asked Jake if he had kissed Michelle as she had told them and he grinned: 'It's hard to be sure. She looks different with her clothes on.' Ryan pitched up and growled: 'is this the creep that tried it on with you?' Jake asked: 'Who are you?' and when Michelle cried that he was her son he gasped: 'No way. He must be adopted!' Jake held his hands up sighed: 'Okay, I admit it Officer. I kissed her but can you blame me? She's absolutely gorgeous!' The officer asked: 'Look, Miss, can we just put this down to an unfortunate misunderstanding and leave it at that please?'

Michelle conceded and sighed: 'Yes, alright.' but Jake then smiled: 'Aw, thank you sweetheart. You're an absolute diamond!' and kissed her a second time. As Michelle gasped and pushed him off, the officer grabbed hold of him and told him: 'Right, you are coming with me!' As he was hauled away, Jake asked what the charge was and was told unceremoniously: 'Getting on my wick!'

Maria told Tony she had better go as it was near Liam's bedtime and he gasped: 'I'd no idea we'd been talking so long.' She asked what he had planned for the evening and smiled: 'I know, quiet night in with a beer, a takeaway and 101 Dalmatians.' He told her he might slkp the beer and takeaway and she asked: 'Are you still feeling dodgy?' He assured her he was fine and told her give Liam a kiss from him. and that he loved her then watched in amusement as she tried and failed to turn the webcam off.

As Michelle told Liz about Jake's arrest., Kelly and Julie opined that it looked like he was only being friendly but Michelle huffed: 'He's a perv.' Graeme piped up: 'Sorry but I couldn't help deliberately listening in to what you saying and I have a theory.' Liz whispered that this would be good and he continued: 'I think man with ladder was overcome by an uncontrollable desire for you. To use more common street vernacular, you, Michelle, are one red hot momma with a body that just won't quite. I reckon you probably had him at Hello, my roof needs fixing!'

Michelle retorted: 'Well I don't care what anybody else thinks as long as I don't have to look at his stupid, smug, grinning face again.' and marched into the back. They watched her go and Kelly cried: 'She so wants to have his babies!' and Julie and Liz cried in unison: 'Definitely!'

As Ozzy barked furiously at the sound of fireworks going off outside, Tony cried: 'It's alright boy, nothing to worry about.' but as he turned of the factory lights, he suddenly gasped and leant against the door.

Entering the shop, Kevin asked Molly if she was on her own. She replied quietly: 'It's just you, me and the baked beans tins.' He told her they needed to talk and she replied resignedly: 'I know.'

Across the road, the factory door suddenly flew open and Tony staggered into the front steps and slumped against the wall for support. Terrified by the flashes and bangs, Ozzy took off down the street but Tony seemed unable to even register that he had gone.

He lurched unsteadily across the cobbles, his face contorted in pain and fighting for breath as he came to a halt against the window of The Kabin.

As he looked up, his head reeling and his vision blurred, he was confronted by a vision from depths of hell itself it seemed as demonic images floated before his eyes.

As his face contorted with terror, the trick or treaters ran laughing down the street, delighted with themselves at having given some grown up a scare.

But as their laughter faded into the distance Tony groaned and slumped to the floor. With the street suddenly silent, was this the end for Tony Gordon?
