About the actor
Bolton-born Mark Charnock wanted to be a director when he was at school. He won a place at Hull University but quit to study acting at the Webber Douglas Academy in London. He landed roles in The Ruth Rendell Mysteries and 2.4 Children. He has played a policeman in EastEnders and Coronation Street. Before Emmerdale he was well known for his part as Brother Oswin alongside Derek Jacobi in the drama Cadfael.
