CLIVE Hornby joined Emmerdale in 1980. He played farmer and devoted family man Jack Sugden for 28 years making him the longest serving cast member in the history of the soap. Emmerdale series producer, Anita Turner, said: “This is a devastating loss and we are all deeply saddened. He was a popular and well-respected member of cast and a terrific actor." He will be missed.
