Sprinter Ben Swift became the first home rider to win a stage on this year's Tour of Britain after triumphing in the penultimate leg from Hatherleigh to Yeovil.
The 21-year-old ended Edvald Boasson Hagen's run of four successive stage win by claiming victory after being led out by Katusha team-mate Filippo Pozzato.
Norway's Boasson Hagen finished third to retain a 23-second overall lead as the Tour enters its final stage around the streets of London.
Swift has been linked with a move to Team Sky despite being under contract with the Russian Katusha squad until the end of next year. The Rotherham rider was third in the second stage of May's Giro d'Italia behind Mark Cavendish.
