Mervyn King and Phil Taylor continued their 100 percent starts to the 2009 Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts with victories at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh.

Premier League newcomer King recorded a second successive 8-1 win in another impressive performance to rout world number two James Wade.

King averaged 104 in the victory to stay ahead of reigning champion Phil Taylor at the top of the table, but insisted: "There's still more in the tank.

"I've been working hard over the last two years and it's now starting to come. People are now starting to see the real Mervyn."

Taylor, meanwhile, followed up his win over Raymond van Barneveld in Liverpool last week with an 8-2 defeat of another Dutchman, Jelle Klaasen.

Taylor took a 4-0 lead before Klaasen, aided by a 118 finish, halved the arrears - only for legs of 11, 12, 12 and 14 darts to power the defending champion to victory.

"I've got four points on the board and every player would be delighted with that," said Taylor, who meets unbeaten Terry Jenkins at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry next week.

Jenkins picked up a second successive draw with a stalemate against Wayne Mardle - who took out 160 in the deciding leg to claim his first point of the year.

John Part also drew for the second successive week, sharing the points in a thriller against van Barneveld.
