Phil Taylor sealed a place in the coral.co.uk Players’ Championship final with an emphatic 13-2 drubbing of Ronnie Baxter.
The 14-time world champion was at his pulverising best as he humiliated Baxter in the second semi-final.
The man from Stoke now faces Robert Thornton, who beat James Wade 13-10 in his semi-final, for the £50,000’s winner cheque.
“Ronnie’s twice as good a player as he was up there,” said Taylor, “but I’m absolutely over the moon and looking forward to playing Robert now.
“I think it could be a cracker. Robert practises really hard and deserves everything he gets.”
Baxter averaged 92 and could never find any rhythm, saying: “I just could not find the treble.
“I was hitting back-to-back 180s on the practice board but it’s so different when you’re up here.”
In the first semi-final, Thornton was 8-6 down before finding some brilliant momentum to win seven of the next nine legs.
The Scot said: "When I went two legs down and knew I had to pull it back. I'm like a bad habit. I keep coming back and I hit him at the right time."
Semi-final results:
James Wade 10-13 Robert Thornton
Phil Taylor 13-2 Ronnie Baxter
