Dennis Priestley produced one of the most memorable comebacks in darts history to defeat John Part at the coral.co.uk Players Championship on Saturday.
The former world champion was not only on the ropes, he looked dead and buried at 5-0 down against the Canadian - but struck back in sensational style.
The Yorkshireman had fought back from 3-1 down to win 6-3 in the first round but this was even more impressive and sets up a meeting with Robert Thornton in the quarter-finals on Saturday night.
Priestley sent the crowd wild with a double top to finish the match - and a sign in the audience that had read "Taxi for Dennis" was hastily rewritten: "Limo for Dennis".
"I don't think I've ever done that before," said Priestley, "it was all going so wrong for me, but in the end it was all hunky-dory! I need to find a dark corner now for a little rest before the next session."
Phil Taylor repeated his 6-3 scoreline from the first day to book his place in the quarter-finals at the expense of Vincent van der Voort. Both players managed 161 check-outs in a matter of minutes in what was a classy encounter.
In a high-quality first encounter of the day, Scotsman Thornton outclassed Alan Tabern to storm into the quarter-finals.
The early exchanges were close it was all square at 2-2 before Thornton pulled away with four straight legs.
In the third match of the afternoon, Andy "Pieman" Smith never looked like troubling Raymond van Barneveld as the Dutchman ran out with a 6-0 whitewash.
"Barney" held his throw in the first leg with a 15-dart finish, and benefited from Smith squandering chances to level in the second leg.
The Dutch destroyer was a whisker away from finishing a 170 checkout in the third set, and a double top was the final nail in Smith's coffin.
James Wade then edged an entertaining encounter against Kevin "The Artist" Painter, breaking Painter's throw in the decisive leg to progress to the last eight.
