Friday's action in the coral.co.uk Players Championship saw all the big guns through to the last 16, with Phil Taylor having too much for Dutchman Michael van Gerwen in a 6-3 win and Raymond van Barneveld getting past Andy Jenkins 6-4.

Local favourite Wayne Mardle saved the best for last in the night's final match, hitting back from 4-1 down to stun Mark Walsh 6-4 and set up a second-round meeting with Mervyn King.
