German football commentator Bela Rethy spoke with ITV.com's Harry Hesp ahead of the semi-final between Die Mannschaft and Italy in Warsaw on Thursday evening.
He revealed his thoughts on why Germany would have preferred to play England, madcap Italian striker Mario Balotelli and how German forward Lukas Podolski will adapt to life at Arsenal next season.
The respected veteran said, "I think now they have a unique chance to beat Italy. It was surprising in South Africa, how well they performed. They have a good mixture between the spectacular and the spirit German sides of old had.
"I am quite optimistic, even though it is a tough game. I think they will win 1-0, something like that."
