Southampton defender Daniel Fox is in line for his first Scotland cap in almost three years after he was named in Craig Levein's squad for next week's friendly against Australia at Easter Road.

Fox, 26, picked up his only cap to date in a 3-0 defeat to Wales during his brief stint at Celtic but looks set to add to that as Rangers left-back Lee Wallace misses out.

Striker Kenny Miller was out of contention after his recent move to MLS side Vancouver White Caps and, with Steven Fletcher's exile continuing, there is likely to be a second cap for Huddersfield forward Jordan Rhodes - who has been attracting the attention of the likes of Blackburn of late.

Noticeably, Celtic duo Charlie Mulgrew and James Forrest, as well as Hearts defender Andy Webster, are the only three players included who currently ply their trade in Scotland.

Meanwhile Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher will meet up and train with the Scotland squad this week, as he battles to return to playing full-time after a year-long battle against a chronic bowel complaint.
