Tottenham Hotspur have rejected a final offer from Real Madrid of €30million for midfielder Luka Modric, ESPN are reporting.

The Spanish champions are said to have given Spurs a 'take it or leave it' ultimatum, but with the London club holding out for a fee in excess of €38million the deal now looks dead in the water.

Modric's future has been the subject of intense speculation in each of the last two summer transfer windows, but with Spurs insistent on getting the best price for their man uncertainty surrounding the talented 26-year-old looks set to go on.

Modric has established himself as one of Europe's biggest talents, having scored 17 times in 159 appearances for Spurs since his £16.5million move from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008.
