New Chelsea signing has ups and downs on his first appearance

Six minutes: Runs at the Manchester City defence and falls after taking the ball past Yaya Toure but no foul is given. Toure appears to think he went down too easily.

10: Caught in the centre circle by a late challenge from Stefan Savic and eventually gets up, gingerly, after referee plays at advantage. Savic is booked when play is next halted.

20: Runs down the left and cuts inside Savic. Tries to play in Ashley Cole with a backheel but gets it wrong and falls over, to the delight of the City fans.

29: Bursts forward and shoots from 25 yards but Costel Pantilimon clutches his low effort.

36: Picks out Ramires with a good ball across the edge of the area.

41: Launches a quick counter-attack with strong run from deep but Fernando Torres, goalscorer moments earlier, is unable to get on the end of his pass.

62: Fouled by Pablo Zabaleta.

69: Tries to spark another attack from deep but cannot get past Zabaleta.

71: Replaced by Ryan Bertrand.
