Manager: Brendan Rodgers

Position last season: 8th

Ground: Anfield (Capacity: 45,276)

Players in: Fabio Borini (Roma, undisclosed), Joe Allen (Swansea, undisclosed).

Players out: Fabio Aurelio (released), Dirk Kuyt (Fenerbahce, undisclosed), Maxi Rodriguez (Newell's Old Boys, undisclosed), Alberto Aquilani (Fiorentina, undisclosed).

Key man: Lucas Leiva. One of the most improved players in the Premier League in recent years, Anfield sorely missed the Brazilian midfielder after his League Cup injury last season. He keeps Liverpool connected from back to front and does the basics so, so well.

Chances: New manager Rodgers will have his work cut out to take Liverpool straight back into the top four, but should at least get the Reds playing attractive football (see Swansea City last season), according to the fans' exacting demands. Speaking of the fans, one of Rodgers' biggest jobs will be staying in the Kop's good books.

Where they'll finish: 6th
