New Swansea star Michu admitted his debut "couldn't have gone better" after he scored twice in the club's historic 5-0 opening-day win at QPR.

The summer signing from Rayo Vallecano made a dream start to life in the Barclays Premier League, helping the Swans end their Loftus Road hoodoo in spectacular fashion in Michael Laudrup's first game in charge.

As well as never previously winning at QPR, Swansea had lost all their opening-day fixtures since 2005, while many predicted they would struggle following the departures of Brendan Rodgers and Joe Allen.

Attacking midfielder Michu told Swans Player: "It's been an unforgettable day. It couldn't have gone better.

"It's my first real game for Swansea City and I scored two goals and started in great shape.

"The most important thing is that the team has won 5-0.

"It's three points that are going to make us grow and grow into the league."

The 26-year-old added: "It's been such a good start and I didn't expect, first game of the season, to score two goals.

"I hit the crossbar as well and could have got a hat-trick.

"I'm very pleased with the fans as well, I was very impressed, and I hope I'm going to keep going."

Michu's words were being translated by team-mate and fellow Spaniard Angel Rangel, who was not surprised at the new man's instant impact.

"It's not a surprise to me and to us, the whole team, because we knew what Michu was about," he said.

"He's come here to score goals and he's done that.

"He's had a great pre-season and the first game of the season coming to Queens Park Rangers.

"We all know that history hasn't been very good to us coming to this place.

"We have changed that and put on a performance obviously."

Rangel hailed the display as the best of his five years at the club.

He said: "Everyone has played so well and when everyone is very focused on the game, you can see that we don't concede goals and we score goals.

"It was the best performance, I think.

"We've had so many in the last four seasons.

"But, as I say, it's the greatest start and hopefully we can roll on into the league."

He added: "It's a perfect day.

"The last few seasons haven't been great on the first day.

"But you have to changed these things and I think we've put in great work throughout all of pre-season.

"It's what probably we lacked other seasons, that we played so well and we didn't take our chances.

"We know we haven't won anything yet but it's always good to keep a clean sheet first game of the season and score so many goals and get confidence for the next game."
