Tottenham and Queens Park Rangers are vying to sign Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero, according to reports in Spain.
Newspaper Marca suggests that Granero could be bound for White Hart Lane following the completion of Luka Modric's transfer from Spurs to Real Madrid.
Last summer then Spurs boss Harry Redknapp was reportedly set to bid €14million for Granero, and a year on under new manager Andre Villas-Boas the club's interest in the 25-year-old appears rekindled.
But they have competition from West London in the shape of QPR, who continue to spend big after a shaky start to the new season.
Granero, who began has spent his whole career at Real Madrid barring a spell at Getafe between 2007 and 2009, has lived in Madrid all his life but is said to be keen on a move to London.
Already out of favour under Jose Mourinho, Granero's position at the club appears even more uncertain following the signing of Modric on Monday.
But with his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu set to run out next summer, the Madrid side may sell now in order to recoup some of the €4million they spent to buy him from Getafe in 2009.
