Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany admitted the two goals his side conceded to Ajax were desperately disappointing from a defensive point of view, and suggested they had cost City a vital three points.
"I think we've probably let ourselves down on those two phases," Kompany told ITV's Gabriel Clarke.
"Especially because when you look at the game they didn't create many chances...those two goals were not good."Meanwhile Kompany also said referee Peter Rasmussen was wrong not to award Yaya Toure a first-half penalty.
"I'm sure it was a penalty, it was very clear," Kompany said.
