Manchester City face Borussia Dortmund in their final Champions League Group D match needing to win to stand any chance of qualifying for the Europa League.

Here we look at some of the game's key battles.

MATS HUMMELS v SERGIO AGUERO

City's top scorer last season, Aguero could be in line to return after dropping to the bench for the weekend clash with Everton. Manager Roberto Mancini has called for more from his strikers and Aguero is often his first choice. Hummels, 23, is regarded as one of Europe's best young defenders and has earned comparisons in the past with Franz Beckenbauer.

MARIO GOTZE v GARETH BARRY

City's midfield may be short on dynamism in the absence of Yaya Toure through suspension but Barry's solidity may still be required. He may need to contain the dangerous attacking midfield threat of 20-year-old Gotze, another highly-rated player who hit Dortmund's equaliser in their weekend draw with Bayern Munich.

ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI v VINCENT KOMPANY

Fresh reports have suggested Poland striker Lewandowski is bound for Manchester United and he could get the chance to deal an early blow to their rivals City ahead of this weekend's derby. The 24-year-old is the main Dortmund dangerman having struck four times in the Champions League this season. Kompany's form has been under scrutiny this term but his latest performances have been assured.
