New Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby admits he was always itching to move to White Hart Lane, sooner rather than later.
Holtby originally agreed to join Spurs in the summer from Bundesliga side Schalke, but yesterday completed a £1.5million move and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's trip to Norwich.
"Ever since I decided to join Spurs in the summer I had the feeling that I wanted to come here straight away," the 22-year-old Germany international told Tottenham's official website.
"The talks with (manager) Andre Villas-Boas also made me feel so comfortable and I wanted to come here as soon as possible."
Holtby, who has had just one training session with his new team-mates, added: "All respect to Schalke as well. I had some great times there, I'm thankful to them.
"They gave me the opportunity to produce at the higher level and to get an offer from a team like Tottenham. I thank them for that.
"I've had a fantastic first day and I can't wait to play my first game. There is so much quality here, the coaching staff is fantastic, the facilities, it's the full package. Like footballers say, I'm over the moon."
Villas-Boas could not hide his delight at sealing the deal for Holtby, whom he feels can operate in a number of positions.
"We rate the player very highly," he said. "We got him at a good price. He is extremely talented and can play different roles.
"He is young and talented and was the captain of the Germany Under-21 side, an excellent addition for us."
